Serafine to Demo Field Recordings with the Creature Halo

Venice Beach, CA (April 8, 2003)--Hollywood sound designer Frank Serafine will demo a 5.1 surround sound field recording made with the Qolle izm125 digital remote field mixer at the 2003 NAB Expo in Las Vegas, which begins April 7 and runs through April 10. Serafine can be found at South Hall 1 & 2--Lower Level, booth numbers SL2040 and SL2042.

Listeners will be invited to step into the "Creature Halo," a one-of-a-kind personal surround sound environment created with five JBL Creature speakers, mounted to a SABRA-SOM SMS 5.1 microphone stand. Three "off-halo" subwoofers will provide the demonstration's low-end frequency response.

The Qolle izm125 8-channel, battery-powered portable digital mixer, manufactured by Tamura Corporation of Japan, features Tamura's microphone head amplifiers and analog processing. Serafine will also use the Creature Halo to play selections from his feature film score and sound design work, as well as demo tracks from the Frank Serafine Collection--including selections from Ambiences 5.1, a brand new 25-DVD set of ambient sounds mixed in 5.1 surround sound.
